NEW DATE! This serve event has been rescheduled and will now take place on Thursday, May 30th.
Community Kitchens (CK) brings restaurants, community organizations and volunteers together to help feed those in need in Oakland. Founded in 2020, CK provides over 10,000 meals per month through the CK Mobile Oasis outreach bus, town fridges, and community partners. In the Oakland neighborhoods CK serves, over half the people are going to bed hungry at night. CK's mission is to build sustainable, equitable and community-centric foodways driven by the voice of the people to support the underserved in our community. Join us for an afternoon in the CK Kitchen with Chef Kendall to help with food prep, sandwich making and meal packaging. Meals prepared will be delivered in the CK Mobile Oasis outreach bus to Oakland encampments and youth programs. Space is limited. Age 10+.

For our second annual ResYouth Spring Retreat, we are going to Dream Mountain Christian Camp in Murphys, CA! We hope your students won’t miss this weekend of bonding over home cooked meals, games, late night snacks, singing, teaching, and small group time.
Our theme is Children of God, which comes from our theme verse, 1 John 3:1a:
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!"
We will have the whole campsite to ourselves. Boys and girls will have separated lodging and restrooms. Here is a link to the camp’s facilities information.
Our speaker is John Kong. You’ve probably seen him around at church. He is the RUF campus minister at UC Berkeley.

This book club will meet four times a year to read and discuss fiction and non-fiction books about and set in Oakland. We hope this group will help us connect with one another and learn about the city where God has placed us to live out His mission.
In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, our first book will be, Dragon Hoops by Gene Luen Yang. Yang's graphic novel tells the true story of the 2014-15 basketball season of Oakland's Bishop O'Dowd High School Dragons, and the lessons Yang (a teacher at O'Dowd) learned about race, religion, history, sports, and life. We especially encourage youth ages 14+ to read Dragon Hoops and join this discussion! Please read our book ahead of time--we will meet to discuss it on June 2 at 12:30pm. For more information or help getting a copy of Dragon Hoops, email Russell Yee.
